What it is:
The Oklahoma Literary Directory is a developing directory of literary organizations, bookstores, authors, and other lit-related activities and personages across the state of Oklahoma.
Why we made it:
When starting Okie Modern, we did a lot of research into the existing literary community across Oklahoma. We wanted to know what was out there and what we might have to offer the community.
While we knew there were plenty of orgs and authors already hard at work building bookish community in Oklahoma-Land, we were amazed to find many so many amazing projects we had never before come across.
As part of our community-building mission at Okie Modern, we decided to share what we found on an easily accessible platform.
We plan to feature organizations, authors, and bookstores from the directory across our socials to further promote the community.
How you can use the directory:
This is just a resource, and like any resource, it is what you make it. The main purpose of the directory is connection. Whether you’re an author looking to promote your latest publication, a bookstore looking for local poets, or a writer just looking for community, you can find it here.

It starts with a spreadsheet.
We know…not very exciting. But some of the most vital parts of building community aren’t glamorous. In fact, they are quite tedious.
When looking for literary community, it can be hard to know where to start. That’s why we decided to put everything in one place.
We created The Oklahoma Literary Directory to provide an accessible platform for all the amazing book things going on in Oklahoma.
Let us know what is working, what’s not, or if you have any ideas of things we should add.
Submit a profile of your writing, organization, bookstore, or other literary activity to be featured in the directory.
Please select the button for “Author Entry” if you’re an individual writer. Please select the button for “Organization Entry” if you represent a bookstore, press, book club, writing group or other literary venture. We will include just about anything in the directory as long as it is literary.
